Today is exactly three years since Alexei Navalny returned to Russia. And exactly three years since he was deprived of freedom. Over these three years, many terrible and irreparable events have happened to Russia, affecting the lives and destinies of millions of people. The story of Alexei Navalny is a reflection of the deep moral decay of the Putin regime, whose sole goal has long been to maintain power by any means necessary.
I saw Alexei Navalny live twice, both times at open events in St. Petersburg. He really has enormous charisma, which is unlikely to be fully conveyed through videos on YouTube. He is certainly a very bright politician.
I don’t agree with him on a lot of things, there’s a lot that confuses me about him and his team. But even the enlighteners of the 18th century. They brought out the well-known maxim that you can disagree with someone, but you must be ready to lay down your life for his or her right to express his or her opinion.
During these three years, Alexey Navalny experienced something that you wouldn’t wish on anyone. The entire power of the repressive apparatus of the authoritarian state has fallen on him and works only to drown out his voice. He is separated from his family. After the October arrests of his former lawyers, the new ones defend him at their own peril and risk.
Someone might say, really, three years ago Alexey Navalny didn’t know where he was going to return. He knew, he knew perfectly well. But there is no need to shift the blame to the victim. Сегодня ровно три года, как Алексей Навальный вернулся в Россию. И ровно три года, как он лишен свободы. За эти три года с Россией произошло много ужасных и непоправимых событий, затронувших жизни и судьбы миллионов людей. История Алексея Навального - это отражение глубокого морального разложения путинского режима, единственной целью которого давно уже стало сохранение власти любыми средствами.
Я дважды вживую видел Алексея Навального, оба раза на открытых мероприятиях в Петербурге. Он действительно обладает огромной харизмой, которая вряд ли в полной мере передастся через ролики на ютубе. Он, безусловно, очень яркий политик.
Я много в чем с ним не согласен, меня многое смущает в нем самом и в его команде. Но еще просветители XVIII в. вывели известную максиму, что можно не соглашаться с кем-либо, но нужно быть готовым жизнь свою положить за его или ее право высказывать свое мнение.
Алексей Навальный испытал за эти три года то, чего никому не пожелаешь. Вся мощь репрессивного аппарата авторитарного государства обрушилась на него и работает лишь для того, чтобы заглушить его голос. Он разлучен с родными. После октябрьских задержаний его прежних адвокатов новые защищают его на свой страх и риск.
Кто-то может сказать, мол, неужели три года назад Алексей Навальный не знал, куда он собирается вернуться. Знал, прекрасно знал. Но не нужно перекладывать вину на жертву. Это во-первых. А во-вторых, лично я убежден, что политик, настоящий политик, всегда должен быть со своим народом.
