“It is impossible not to write anything about the 80th anniversary of the victory over Nazism. This is a great date, and those events gave humanity a chance for progressive and relatively peaceful development over the next decades. The horrors of Nazi totalitarianism sobered many, the reaction
they contributed significantly to democratic processes. Germany, Italy, and Japan, which started the Second World War, and Japan, whose anniversary of surrender will be in September, are now liberal democracies and developed economies. All this became possible only at the cost

I already wrote in February that there is and cannot be any justification for using foreign policy, aggressive foreign policy adventures to control domestic politics, for the sake of reinforcing one’s losing power within the country. This is terrible political irresponsibility, criminal myopia, which has serious consequences for the country and society.
And in the same way, the use of mythologized and
openly militaristic historical narratives to justify aggression that serves the purpose of maintaining personal power is an indefensible crime. And also open disrespect for the memory of those who fought real Nazism and who defeated it 80 years ago with the words: “Never again!”

«Нельзя ничего не написать о 80-летии победы над нацизмом. Это великая дата, и те события дали человечеству шанс на поступательное и относительно мирное развитие в течение последующих десятилетий. Ужасы нацистского тоталитаризма отрезвили многих, реакция
на них в значительной мере способствовала демократическим процессам. Развязавшие Вторую мировую войну Германия, Италия, а также Япония, годовщина капитуляции которой будет в сентябре, сейчас являются либеральными демократиями и развитыми экономиками. Все это стало возможно лишь ценой
огромного количества жизней, отданных в борьбе с нацизмом и схожими идеологиями фашистского толка, в том числе ценой около 27 млн. советских людей, как солдат, так и мирных граждан. Помнить об этом – наша святая обязанность.
Я уже писал в феврале, что нет и не может быть никакого оправдения использованию внешней политики, агрессивных внешнеполитических авантюр для контроля над политикой внутренней, ради подкрепления своей теряющей рейтинги власти внутри страны. Это страшная политическая безответственность, преступная близорукость, имеющая серьезные последствия для страны и общества.
И точно так же использование мифологизированных и
откровенно милитаристских исторических нарративов для оправдания агрессии, служащей целям удержания личной власти, - это ничем не могущее быть оправданным преступление. А также открытое неуважение к памяти тех, кто боролся с настоящим нацизмом и кто победил его 80 лет назад со словами: "Никогда больше!".
