I won’t be original: as soon as I read this news, I immediately remembered the scene from “The Day of the Oprichnik” by V. Sorokin, where during a “patriotic” performance one of the actors releases his farts into a gas pipeline going to the West. It looks like it doesn't. Only the reality turned out to be more militaristic.
Well, since I raised this topic, I’ll add that on the Russia-24 TV channel (yes, I’m now sitting in a cell with TV) I saw an announcement of a certain series of analytical programs “Russia 2062”. Apart from the title and a couple of general phrases, I didn’t have time to see or hear anything else, but I would immediately like to praise the authors for offering the wide audience of the TV channel an expert view on such a long-term perspective. And besides this, associations arise with “Moscow - 2042” by V. Voinovich. Moreover, if in our country everything develops according to the inertial scenario, then the famous quote from Voinovich’s novel about the connection between the delivery of secondary products and the nutrition of the population may sparkle with new colors, and not by 2062 or even by 2042, but much earlier.
Truly, Russia is literature.
