“Due to the intensive progress of my court hearings in February, I slightly missed the news related to the confiscation of the Sirena-Travel group of companies (estimated value of 35 billion rubles) from State Duma deputy Rifat Shaikhutdinov to the state.
I don’t know anything about Shaikhutdinov as an entrepreneur, but I do know about Shaikhutdinov as a politician. Now he is a State Duma deputy and is a member of the LDPR faction, while being elected from his own party “Civic Platform” in the constituency in Bashkiria. Maybe someone else remembers that this “Civic Platform” at one time, in 2013-2014, was a political project of the billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov, and it was Shaikhutdinov who “squeezed out” this party from Prokhorov - with the consent of the AP and the Ministry of Justice - after which from a real opposition it turned into a spoiler one and acted, among other things, under the shameful slogan “not opposition, but an alternative.” In the Duma elections, she consistently came in last with a result of a fraction of a percent, but its formal leader Shaikhutdinov was easily elected in 2016 and 2021 in the agreed upon (i.e., without serious opponents and with a predictable result) Neftekamsk district in Bashkiria - in gratitude for increased loyalty.
But times are changing and loyalty to the regime alone will not get you far: it remains a necessary condition for immunity, but is no longer sufficient, especially if attractive, profitable and dubiously acquired assets are at stake. In the new convocation of the State Duma, which is to be elected in September, we are unlikely to see Mr. Shaikhutdinov.

«За интенсивным ходом моих судебных заседаний в феврале немного упустил инфоповод, связанный с изъятием у депутата Госдумы Рифата Шайхутдинова группы компаний “Сирена-трэвел” (оценочной стоимостью в 35 млрд. руб.) в доход государства.
Ничего не знаю про Шайхутдинова как предпринимателя, но зато знаю я про Шайхутдинова-политика. Сейчас он является депутатом Госдумы и входит во фракцию ЛДПР, будучи при этом избранным от собственной партии “Гражданская платформа” по округу в Башкирии. Может быть еще кто-нибудь помнит, что эта “Гражданская платформа” в свое время, в 2013-2014, была политическим проектом миллиардера Михаила Прохорова, и именно Шайхутдинов у Прохорова эту партию и “отжал” - с согласия АП и Минюста, - после чего из реально оппозиционной она превратилась в спойлерскую и выступала в том числе под позорным лозунгом “не оппозиция, а альтернатива”. На думских выборах стабильно приходила в числе последних с результатом в доли процентов, зато ее формальный лидер Шайхутдинов легко избрался в 2016 и 2021 годах по согласованному (т.е. без серьезных оппонентов и с предсказуемым результатом) Нефтекамскому округу в Башкирии - в благодарность за повышенную лояльность.
Но времена меняются и на одной лишь лояльности режиму далеко не уедешь: она осталась необходимым условием неприкосновенности, но перестала быть достаточным, особенно если на кону привлекательные, прибыльные и сомнительно нажитые активы. В новом созыве Госдумы, который должен быть избран в сентябре, г. Шайхутдинова мы вряд ли увидим.
