“As we reduced the production of certain types of weapons and even completely stopped some development work, Hitler more and more actively and confidently instilled in the generals and high-ranking officials of the state and party apparatus the hope of creating a new weapon that would supposedly decide the outcome of the war. When I visited the divisions fighting at the front, soldiers and officers often, smiling mysteriously, asked when the “miracle weapon” would finally be used in combat” (summer 1944).
“Unexpectedly, it turned out that in recent years they (ordinary people - V.N.’s note) have been so taught to trust Hitler that even in this situation they had no doubt at all about his victory! "The Fuhrer probably has one last trump card in reserve, which he will use at the right moment. In the meantime, he is luring the enemy into a trap!" Even some ministers, in their naivety, believed in Hitler’s cunning plan: he allegedly deliberately ceded part of the territory to the enemy in order to use a crushing “miracle weapon” against him at the last moment. So, for example, Funk once asked me: “We have some kind of special weapon, don’t we? And thanks to it, events will soon take a favorable turn for us?” (March 1945).
Actually, V-2 rockets and the Me-262 jet fighter were considered as weapons capable of turning the tide of the war, but they could not influence the course of hostilities. And in the development of the atomic project, the Third Reich, thank God, was far behind the United States, since it relied on other, more conventional types of weapons.

«Завершая разговор о прочитанных мною мемуарах Шпеера (начатый здесь и продолженный здесь), приведу из них два занятных отрывках, касающихся вопроса о так называемых “чудо-оружии” или “оружии возмездия”.
«По мере того как мы сокращали производство отдельных видов вооружения и даже полностью прекратили некоторые опытно-конструкторские работы, Гитлер все активнее и увереннее внушал генералам и высокопоставленным чиновникам государственного и партийного аппарата надежду на создание нового оружия, которое якобы решит исход войны. Когда я приезжал в сражающиеся на фронте дивизии, солдаты и офицеры зачастую, загадочно улыбаясь, спрашивали, когда же наконец произойдет боевое применение “чудо-оружия”» (лето 1944 года).
«Неожиданно выяснилось: за последние годы их (простых людей - прим. В. Н.) настолько приучили доверять Гитлеру, что даже в этой ситуации они нисколько не сомневались в его победе! “У фюрера наверняка в запасе есть последний козырь, который он пустит в ход в нужный момент. А пока он заманивает противника в ловушку!” Даже некоторые министры по наивности своей верили в хитроумный замысел Гитлера: он якобы намеренно уступил врагу часть территории, чтобы в последний миг использовать против него сокрушительное “чудо-оружие”. Так, например, Функ как-то спросил меня: “У нас ведь есть какое-то особое оружие, правда? И благодаря ему события вскоре примут благоприятный для нас оборот?”» (март 1945 года).
Собственно, в качестве оружия, способного переломить ход войны, рассматривались и реактивные снаряды Фау-2 и реактивный истребитель Me-262, но на ход боевых действий они повлиять не смогли. А в разработке атомного проекта Третий рейх, слава Богу, сильно отстал от тех же США, так как сделал ставку на другие, более конвенциональные виды вооружений.
Тем, кому интересны еще и художественные осмысление и раскрытие данной темы, особенно не пропагандистской составляющей, не могу не посоветовать рассказ В. Пелевина “Оружие возмездия” из его раннего сборника “Желтая стрела”.
